Luis F. Calvo
Luis F. Calvo is an associate at Kent, Beatty & Gordon, LLP.
Luis’ practice focuses on commercial litigation and arbitration. Luis has extensive experience representing financial institutions and securities professionals in connection with investment disputes (sales of unsuitable securities, unauthorized trading and failure to supervise) and employment actions (non-compete clauses, trade secrets, compensation disputes, promissory notes, breaches of contract and business torts). Luis has also represented financial firms and their employees in regulatory and enforcement matters.
Luis began his career working at the Mexico City office of an international law firm representing energy firms and pharmaceutical companies in connection with government contracts. Luis subsequently worked at the New York branch of a major European bank.
Luis holds a J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law, where he served as an Editor of the Journal of Corporate and Financial Law and was a member of Fordham’s Moot Court team. He received the Archibald R. Murray Public Service award for his work in Fordham’s Securities Arbitration Clinic and Legal Outreach. Luis also received a Master’s Degree in International Business & Trade Law from Fordham University School of Law, and holds a Bachelor of Laws from Universidad Panamericana, Mexico.
Luis is admitted to practice in New York and Mexico. In addition to English and Spanish, Luis is fluent in French.
